Dr Leonard Ang Pek Kiang
was awarded the Singapore National Academy of Science Young Scientist Award in September 2005 for his research on ocular stem cells, bioengineering of eye tissues and ocular surface transplantation for the treatment of eye disease. Dr Ang was the only recipient in the medical field among the 9 National Science and Technology award winners for the year. Dr Ang is also the first ophthalmologist in Singapore to receive this award.
